MDI Gurgaon final Placement 2018: Average salary shoots up to Rs.19.17 lakhs; International salary at Rs.55 lakhs

MDI Gurgaon, one of the premier B-schools in India has concluded its placement 2018 with high average packages including international salary packages of Rs.55 lakhs per annum. The B-school saw 28 new recruiters making offers in Placement 2018
Highly ranked MDI witnessed higher average salary of Rs.19.17 lakhs offered by 119 recruiters for its 2016-18 batch of 331 students in Placement 2018
MDI Gurgaon, one of the premier B-schools in India has concluded its placement 2018 with high average packages including international salary packages of Rs.55 lakhs per annum. The B-school saw 28 new recruiters making offers in Placement 2018.
Highly ranked MDI witnessed higher average salary of Rs.19.17 lakhs offered by 119 recruiters for its 2016-18 batch of 331 students in Placement 2018 which has concluded by keeping the legacy of 100% placement record.
Sharing the placement report for the batch 2016-2018, Management Development Institute (MDI) Gurgaon has informed that a total of 331 students participated in the placement process, with 240 students from the flagship PGPM course, 59 students from the PGP-HRM course and 32 from the PGP-IM course.
MDI students have proved their mettle through their high quality performance by bagging a total of 108 Pre-Placement Offers either from their summer internship organizations or through various B-school competitions. The regular recruiters at MDI reinforced their faith in the quality of talent by opening more of their coveted roles, in addition to their regular roles on offer.
Key Placement trends
The average CTC across the three courses increased to Rs.19.17 lakhs in Placement 2018 as against Rs. 18.89 LPA last year with the highest domestic CTC being Rs. 35 lakhs this year as against Rs. 28.74 LPA last year. Average salary for top 20% in Placement 2018 stood at Rs. 25.91 lakhs
MDI Gurgaon students have also bagged international offers across industries with Tolaram Group, Godrej extending international offers with the package of 55 LPA which is the highest overall CTC offered in this season.
While the highest domestic salary for PGPM was  Rs.35 lakhs, for PGP HRM it stood at Rs. 24 lakhs and for PGP-IM, it was Rs. 24.45 lakhs in Placement 2018.

A total of 119 companies confirmed participation for the MDI final placement 2018 and made Placement offers to 331 students.
The placement season saw an overwhelming response from companies spanning across various functions such as Consulting, General Management, Finance, Strategy, Sales and Marketing, Operations and HR. A plethora of startups also opened their niche profiles to leverage the talent pool at MDI Gurgaon. The stellar placements at MDI amidst the increasingly volatile economic scenario stand testimony to the faith shown by industry stalwarts in its pedagogy, faculty, alumni and students.
In addition to the regular recruiters, MDI campus also saw 28 first time recruiters, reiterating the confidence that the industry places upon MDI. There was a substantial increase in the number of offers made by the regular recruiters.
New recruiters such as Abbott, BMW, Cisco, Jubilant FoodWorks, MARS, Moody’s Analytics, Ola Cabs, OYO Rooms, PUMA and Walmart recruited from MDI this year.  Investment Banking roles were offered by Avendus, Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan Chase & Co., Nomura and Corporate Finance roles were offered by Coca-Cola, EY GDS, Wipro.  International roles were offered by organizations such as Godrej Industries and Tolaram Group

PPOs in Placement 2018 have increased to 108 as against 100 last year.
Diverse batch profile with 26% women students
In keeping pace with the latest industry trends, MDI Gurgaon has maintained a balanced gender ratio. This year the batch saw a similar trend with around 26% women enrolling in the PGPM, PGP-HRM and PGP-IM programs as against 22% last year.
According to MDI Gurgaon, “Each year, MDI lays emphasis on hosting a batch of students from various academic backgrounds. This year saw students enrolling from Arts, Commerce, Law, Medicine, Psychology, Science and other diverse backgrounds.”  The Class of 2018 comprises students from diverse academic backgrounds with 18% non-engineers.  Although Engineering background students constituted 82% of the batch size, commerce had 11%, Arts 3% and others 4% students.
The students have a prior work experience in various sectors, with Manufacturing, IT/ITES, BFSI, and Consulting being the most prominent ones. This diversity provides for an ideal bed of talent for recruitment.
Domain wise Placements  
MDI Gurgaon further fortified its position towards becoming a preferred destination for the      Sales & Marketing, Finance and General Management & Strategy function. MDI Gurgaon attributes this continuous success to its faculty and alumni whose backing and strong conviction led to one of the most successful Final Placements in the recent past
Sales & Marketing: 32% share in Placement
Sales and Marketing continued to remain the preferred option on campus and offered the highest number of job profiles to the students. Industry leaders such as AB InBev, Abbott, Godrej Industries, ITC, L'Oréal, Pidilite Industries and Vodafone participated in the process with international roles being offered by Godrej Industries and Tolaram Group. New associations were established with reputed brands like Abbott, IOCL, Jubilant FoodWorks, MARS and PUMA.
Other key recruiters included ABFRL Airtel AkzoNobel Arvind Lifestyle, Asian Paints, Bajaj Auto, Bennett Coleman & Co,  BMW, Cipla, Coca-Cola, Crompton Greaves, Dabur, GlaxoSmithKline Pharma, Google, ITC, Kohler, Lava International, Maruti Suzuki, Nivea, Novartis, OYO Rooms, Philips India, Tata Motors, Tata Steel among others.
General Management and Strategy: 28% share in Placement
The General Management/Strategy function saw major conglomerates like Godrej Industries, Hinduja Group, Reliance Industries Limited and RPG Group hire aggressively. Niche profiles were offered by consulting companies such as Accenture Strategy, Deloitte, KPMG and PwC while Boeing offered its coveted strategy role.
Other key recruiters in this domain were Airtel, Bain Capability Center, Cognizant, McKinsey, Eli Lilly, EY GDS, Gartner, i3 Consulting, IBM, Infosys, Jardine Lloyd Thompson, KPMG, Tata Communications among others.
Finance: 21% share in Placement
The BFSI sector witnessed prestigious companies offering coveted profiles such as Corporate Banking, Corporate Finance, Equity Research, Investment Banking and Wealth Management to students. Industry leaders such as Goldman Sachs, HSBC, JPMorgan Chase & Co. and Nomura reiterated their faith in MDI Gurgaon by offering multiple profiles
American Express Avendus Axis Bank Axis Securities BMW Citibank Coca-Cola CRISIL Cube Highways DHFL Pramerica Diversey Federal Bank, ICRA IDFC Bank, India Ratings & Research,  Metro Cash & Carry, Moody's Analytics, Spandana Sphoorty, Standard Chartered, Synergy Consulting, Syngenta, Wipro, Yes Bank are among the other key recruiters in Finance domain.
Operations/IT/ITES: 19% share in Placement
Manufacturing giants such as Ashok Leyland and Tata Steel offered roles in the Operations domain. Leading start-ups directly recruited for their CXO roles. A host of IT companies offered roles in Product Management and Analytics.
Other recruiters include Cognizant, McKinsey, Ecom Express, HCL Technologies, IBM, Jubilant, L&T, MAQ Software, Maruti Suzuki, Microland, Moglix, Newgen Software, Polestar Solutions, SapientRazorfish, Sterlite Power, Sterlite Technologies, Tata Motors, Tata Sky,  Tredence Analytics, ValueLabs, Vedanta.
PGDM HR
The HR program at MDI Gurgaon has also seen an exponential growth as reflected in placement 2018. Prominent recruiters this year were Aditya Birla Group, Deloitte, ITC Limited, Reliance Industries Limited, RPG Group and PwC SDC. Recruiters such as Max Life Insurance reinforced their belief in Brand MDI and opened roles in HR as well while new associations were established with companies such as Bajaj Auto and HPCL
Highest salary for PGDM-HR programme stood at Rs. 24 lakhs, average salary was Rs.19.15 lakhs and median salary stood at Rs. 18.15 lakhs in Placement 2018.
